Brighton Declaration signed in Switzerland

Brighton Declaration signed in Switzerland

On the occasion of its Board meeting in Zurich, the Swiss University Sports Federation (SUSF) signed the Brighton Declaration on October 2, 2012.

SUSF President Andreas Csonka stressed the fact, that "in recognition of the important role that sport and physical activity play in the lives of girls and women, we support the aim of the Brighton Declaration to develop a sporting culture that enables and values the full involvement of females in every aspect of sport."

Actually this goal is already achieved in most of the Swiss University Sports Organisations, but it was important for the SUSF to officially demonstrate the support to this initiative. The declaration was signed by SUSF President Andreas Csonka, Secretary General Cécile Büsser and Managing Director Leonz Eder.

SUSF therefore joined EUSA, FISU and some national university sports associations who have signed the Brighton declaration already, and are taking actions to ensure gender equality.
