Representatives from the EUSA Office travelled to Belgrade, Serbia for a two-day Supervision Commission Meeting with the organising committee of the 2021 European Universities Games, who have made great strides forward in preparation for this summer’s Games.

The meeting gave the opportunity for the local organisers to update EUSA on all logistical and organisational aspects of the Games, which are now less than 150 days away.

Present on behalf of EUSA was Vice-President Mr Haris Pavletic; Executive Committee and Supervision Commission Member Mr Milan Zvan, Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik; Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti, Communications Manager Mr Andrej Pisl and Education and Development Manager Ms Sara Rozman.



Present on behalf of the EUG2021 Organising Committee was EUG2021 Director Mr Predrag Juskovic; Deputy Director Ms Anita Dobre; Project Manager Mr Dragan Atanasov as well as the heads of each organisational department in the local organising committee.

The meeting began with a Progress Report in which the EUG2021 organisers delivered a general update across several aspects, following which a Medical and COVID-19 Management report was presented and discussed at length.



The following day, each organisational department delivered an update on their preparations, including the Sport, Venue Management, Accommodation and catering, Transport and Security Department.

The afternoon continued with presentations from the PR, Media and Marketing, as well as the Ceremonies and Protocol Departments, with an exciting new venture with sports broadcaster Arena Sport presented as a media partner for the Games.

An internal Supervision Commission meeting was held in the early evening before the conclusion of meeting, with EUSA well-pleased with the progress being made by the organisers who are on track to deliver a safe, successful and memorable event in July.

Health and safety of all participants remains the priority for the organisers, with an online meeting with all National University Sports Association set for Wednesday, March 3 in which an update will be delivered regarding the COVID-19 protocols in place for the Games.

Registrations for certain sports are still open ahead of the third general entry deadline on March 15, with interested participants encouraged to contact their National University Sport Association at their earliest convenience, with more details available at eug2021.eu.
