#BeActive Awards 2022
The European Commission organised the eight edition of the #BeActive Awards on November 28, celebrated as a hybrid event, with in-person attendance at The Square in Brussels, and online streaming.
Opening speeches were made by Ms Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth; Mr Filip Neusser, President of the National Sport Agency of the Czech Republic; Mr Tomasz Frankowski, MEP co-chair of the Sports Group; and Mr Marc Tarabella, MEP co-chair of the Sports Group. They reflected on the impressive activation of Europeans across the continent, inviting everyone to #BeActive and also stressed the importance of the new initiative #Healthylifestyle4all.
The awards were created to support projects and individuals dedicated to promotion of sport and physical activity across Europe. The awards have 4 categories: Education, Workplace Local Hero and Across Generation Award as the new category.
Leading by example, the following awards were attributed, out of 62 projects submissions and 12 finalists: #BeActive Education Award: Croquet and Llama Academy (POL); #BeActive Workplace Award: Azur Sport Health (FRA); #BeActive Local Hero Award: Elias Mastoras (GRE); #BeActive Across Generation Award: University of Ljubljana (SLO).
The following day, representatives of the national coordinating bodies and official partners of the European Week of Sport and the #BeActive campaign met in Brussels, reviewing this year’s impressive global and local activities.
