Beach Handball makes its EUC debut
The Opening Ceremony of the EUSA-EHF Beach Handball Championship took place on July 25 in Zagreb at Jarun Lake, officially opening the very first edition of this event.
The Ceremony was attended by Mr Milan Pavelić, Personal Representative of the Major of the City of Zagreb and Head of the City Office for Sport and Youth; Mr Wolf Fruhauf, SCAC Chair, Mr Zrinko Čustonja, President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation and the Organising Committee; Mr Tomislav Grahovac, President of the Croatian Handball Federation and Mr Siniša Ostoić, Director of the National Beach Handball Teams at the Croatian Handball Federation and Managing Director of the Gazprom SEHA League.
Shortly after the parade of the teams and on behalf of the Organising Committee, participants were welcomed by President of the Croatian Academic Sports Federation, Mr Zrinko Čustonja.
EUSA Executive Committee representative Mr Wolf Fruhauf welcomed all participants and wished all teams and participants who came to test their skills and abilities well ahead of the start of the competition, while also thanking the Organising Committee for all their contributions.
The participants were welcomed in the biggest recreational area of Zagreb, Lake Jarun, and the event will be organized in a top-grade sports facility, which hosted European Beach Handball Championship 2017.
The competition is organised by EUSA and the European Handball Federation with the contribution of HASS (Croatian Academic Sports Federation), and will take place between July 24 and 27 in Zagreb.

A total of 16 teams – six female and ten male – representing 12 universities from eight different countries will battle for the first title of the EUSA-EHF Beach Handball Championship.
