Aveiro to host EUSA Executive Committee meeting
The Portuguese city of Aveiro will host the Executive Committee of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) between April 18 - 21, 2024.
To ensure smooth preparation of the events in April, EUSA Projects and Policy Manager visited Aveiro on March 19-20. During his visit, working meetings were held with the representatives of the Portuguese Academic Federation of University Sport (FADU) and the University of Aveiro, who are partnering in hosting the university sports events next month.
Aveiro hosted the 1st European Universities Basketball Championship in 2001 and also the most recent edition in 2023, as well as the EUSA Conference and Gala in 2019. This year, Aveiro is also hosting part of the final phases of the national university championships and the national university sport summit, which will be held in conjunction with the EUSA Executive Committee meeting.
At the first in-person meeting of the EUSA Executive Committee this year, several topics will be discussed including reports, projects, membership and partnerships updates. The main focus will be on the EUSA current and future sports events, starting with the European Universities Games coming up this summer in Debrecen and Miskolc.
The hosts of the 2027 European Universities Championships will be announced, and the final evaluation and presentation of the bids of the European Universities Games 2028 and the attribution of the event will be held at the occasion of the meeting in Aveiro as well.
