AUSF General Assembly

Qingdao, China hosted the 8th General Assembly of the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) under the leadership of its President Mr Xinsheng Zhang, also FISU Vice President and President of the Federation of University Sports China (FUSC).

 

23 member countries out of the 35 AUSF members were present at the General Assembly. Prior to the Assembly, AUSF held its Executive Committee Meeting in Qingdao, located in the southeast part of Shandong Province in China, where also the 2nd Asian University Golf Championship and the 3rd Asian University Beach Volleyball Championship are organised.

After the welcome address by AUSF President Mr Zhang the floor was given to the FISU 1st Vice President Mr Oleg Matytsin to address the audience on behalf of FISU President Mr Gallien and presented a plaquette to Mr Zhang.

The second speaker was the Vice President of the European University Sports Association Mr Leonz Eder. On behalf of EUSA President Mr Roczek he thanked the hosts and congratulated them on their achievements and activities, stressing also the good cooperation between AUSF and EUSA, as two of the continental university sports bodies. Mr Eder presented a symbolic gift to the ASSF President Mr Zhang.

At the Assembly also FASU President Mr Malumbete Ralethe, FISU CDSU Chairman Mr Stefan Bergh and representatives of the Gwangju OC (Summer Universiade 2015) and Almaty OC (Winter Universiade 2017) addressed the audience as well. Among the European guests were also FISU Assessor Mr Marian Dymalski and Mrs Verena Burk as well as FISU Director for Development Mr Laurent Briel.

The General Assembly also hosted the Unveiling Ceremony of the AUSF Education and Development Centre to be established by prof. dr. Zhong Bingshu at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports in Beijing. The members of AUSF accepted Iraq as a new member federation. AUSF Secretary General Mr Kenny Chow presented the activity plan for 2014/2015, and it was agreed to host an Extraordinary GA during the Universiade in Gwangju for the adoption of amendments in the AUSF statutes.
