AUSF-FISU Strategic Dialogue and General Assembly
The Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) successfully held its 12th Ordinary AUSF General Assembly and 3rd FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between May 6th and May 8th, 2023.
The 3rd FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue was held on 6 of May in Dubai, featuring a theme of healthy campus. The event was opened by the welcoming speeches of Mr Sheikh Suhail Bin Butty Suhail Al Maktoum, the Secretary General of the UAE Sports Federation for School and University Education Institution and Dr Xue Yanqing, the President of AUSF.
After the welcoming words, Mr Fernando Parente, FISU Development & Healthy Campus Director, gave a presentation, sharing the objective and achievements of FISU's Healthy Campus Programme, as a global initiative launched by FISU for universities worldwide.
Next, the representatives of from China, Republic of Korea, Thailand, UAE and ASEAN University Sports Council who shared their strategies and best practices in building a healthy campus, the "smart campus" digital platform, the aims of it, as well as the benefit of encouraging both student athletes and ordinary students to get involved in the world of sports.
The last part of the FISU-AUSF Strategic Dialogue was reserved for the panel discussion, talking about ways and methods to engage the university community to be more actively involved in sports and champion health living style and the closing words, given on behalf of Mr Leonz Eder, FISU Acting President. He said: "Let's put our ideas together to act like a think tank and develop new dreams, new visions and adopt our strategies."
The FISU – AUSF events in Abu Dhabi, then continued with the AUSF General Assembly, which every two years brings together the National University Sports Federations, which are AUSF members.
Asides from the member federations, distinguished guests also attended the General Assembly and made their remarks, among which, FISU Acting President, Mr Leonz Eder; Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA President; Mr Alim Maluf Neto, President of FISU-America; Mr Roestam Effendi SIJAR, Secretary General of ASIAN University Sports Council and many more.
On the first day of the General Assembly, the proposal to reduce the term of the Executive Member from 6 to 4 years was adopted, as was Qatar Collegiate Sports Federation formally accepted as an AUSF member, bringing the overall number of AUSF members to 41.
On the second day of the General Assembly, a new Executive Committee for the period of 2023–2027 was elected. The election resulted in the appointment of Liu Lixin (CHN) as President and Dorjsuren Jaragalsaikhan (MGL) as Senior Vice President. For the positions of Vice Presidents, Almuzaini Khalid (KSA) and Tseng Ching-Yu (TPE) were selected.
The position of Secretary General was appointed to Seetow Cheng Fave (SGP) and the role of Vice Secretary General was given to Yan Yuetong (CHN). For the position of AUSF Treasurer, Ha Woong Yong (KOR) was appointed, and four assessors were chosen: Al Dhaheri Ali Massari (UAE), Suzuki Daichi (JPN), Ayub Hanafiah (MAS), Garabedian Sami A. (LIB), and two auditors, Huang Chia Ju (TPE) and Bashirian Hadi (IRI).
