AUSF Executive Committee Meeting in Tajikistan

On May 7th, the Executive Committee of the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) had the first meeting of 2016 in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. It was also the first time for the AUSF EC to have its board meeting in this mountainous country, and the second time in Central Asia.

The meeting in Tajikistan also honours 25th anniversary of the country's independence and the 1st Asian University Boxing Championship.
AUSF President Xinsheng Zhang opened the meeting with a warm welcoming speech, thanking Tajikistan University Sports Federation for hosting the meeting.

Gift Exchange

On behalf of the Tajikistan government, Mr Nuriddin Said, the Minister of Education and Science, extended the warmest welcome to all the EC members and guests. AUSF EC members also paid a visit to Tajik Institute of Physical Culture named after Saimumin Rahimov.

Visit and cultural experience

The meeting was very productive, confirming new AUSF website which will be launched later this month. AUSF will also put more focus on the media and marketing exploration.

Participants

For the calendar, it was approved to have education projects added, with Seminars for Secretaries General in conjunction with the General Assembly and Intensive Training Program for administrators in exchanging years.

The progress reports were made on the AUSF 2016 events:
• Boxing, Dushanbe, Tajikistan in May
• 3x3 Basketball, Macau, China in July
• Football, Taebaeksan City, Korea in September
• Women’s Basketball, Taipei, Chinese Taipei in September
• Men’s Basketball, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in September
• Cycling, Chang Neyong, Korea in October
• General Assembly and Seminars for Secretaries General, Xiamen, China in November
