AUSF anniversary General Assembly
On December 20, the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) held their General Assembly in their anniversary year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was held online.
The 12th AUSF General Assembly attracted 52 delegates from 28 countries and regions, as well as prominent guests, including FISU Acting President Mr Leonz Eder, FISU Secretary General Mr Eric Saintrond, EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, FASU President Ms Nomsa Mahlangu, FISU Oceania President Mr David Schmude, FISU America Secretary General Ms America Alvarado, and others.
The meeting was opened by AUSF President Mr Yanqing Xue who welcomed all the participants in his address and expressed appreciation to all the hosts, members, participants and other stakeholders for their understanding in the postponement of cancellation of the onsite events in Asia in 2022.
AUSF Secretary General Mr Kenny Chow highlighted in the annual report the efforts made by the Executive Committee members and staff to follow up with initiatives of 30th anniversary of AUSF, including publication of the book "30 Years Asian University Sports Movement", diversified activities celebrating the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) and other events.
The President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Mr Roczek greeted the participants, reflecting on the good cooperation between EUSA and AUSF, extending his best wishes on behalf of the sister continental university sports body, with the hope to be able to meet in person soon.
The electoral part will be realised when the next onsite Electoral General Assembly is held. Upon discussion, the mandate of the current AUSF Executive Committee was approved to be extended to that time.
