Assembly and sports competitions in Bulgaria

The first assembly of the Association for University Sport - AUS "Academic" after the election of the new board was held on December 1, 2012 in Bulgaria. The meeting passed in a good atmosphere for the renewal of the new sport licensing and the sports calendar.

 

The president of AUS "Academic" Mr Zlatko Djourov was strongly supported for his management. In the last year’s report he informed the members about the liabilities from the past and the current situation. The members of the general meeting agreed on a rich state sports calendar for 2013, with a hope for strong teams and athletes who will represent Bulgaria in 2013.

Karate competitions

 

For the development and improving of Bulgarian sport important decisions were taken, such as the creating of a multifunctional sports hall and the restoration of membership in EUSA, FISU and hosting European and World sports competitions and forums.

General Assembly

 

Mr Zlatko Djurov, AUS Academic PresidentUniversity Championships in Bulgaria resumed after more than three year break! After a few years break because of organizational and financial problems, the new executive board of the Association for University Sports "Academic" and the strong will of the new President prof. Zlatko Djourov, with the great support of the Ministry of Physical Education and Sports renewed the student championships.

 

Since the beginning of November competitions in nine different sports are being held. Renewed championships involved 29 universities represented by 146 teams and over 1,800 student participants. National championships in Karate, Athletics Cross, Chess, Aerobics, Sport Climbing and Swimming have already taken place. There is now a qualifying stages championship in Volleyball, Basketball and Handball.
