Asiana Airlines receives prestigious title
Asiana Airlines has been the main sponsor of the European University Sports Association since 2010. We are happy to report that Asiana Airlines has been named 2011 Airline of the Year by Global Traveler. At the awards ceremony which took place in Los Angeles, USA on December 1, Asiana was presented with 7 awards, including the mentioned Airline of the Year award.
The 2011 Airline of the Year award is the third award of the kind, received by Asiana the third year in succession. In 2009, they received the award by Air Transport World and in 2010 by Skytrax. With this achievement, Asiana Airlines is now recognised as a Golden Grand Slam airline. This achievement marks a new record and standard, achieved by any airline for the first time. Apart from this prestigious title, the company has received the Best Airline for Onboard Service and Flight Attendants for 8 consecutive years, among other awards.
Asiana CEO Mr Young-du Yoon attended the awards ceremony, thanking the passengers for their trust, and commenting that the achievement is the result of all its employees’ collective efforts to fulfil Asiana’s management philosophy of customer satisfaction. He concluded that Asiana Airlines will remain committed to providing its customers with the service quality they would expect from a Golden Gran Slam airline.
The airline is also committed to offer best quality also by keeping its fleet modern. In January 2011, Asiana signed a contract for 6 new A380 aircrafts, known as premium hotels in the sky. These new planes will join the fleet starting in 2014. Apart from A380, Asiana has been purchasing new A350s to update its fleet, operating state-of-the-art and as eco-friendly fleet as possible.
Asiana Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance network and their fleet currently consists of 71 aircrafts, operating 86 passenger routes from 66 cities in 22 countries, including European destinations Frankfurt, Istanbul, London and Paris. Asiana also operates 21 international cargo routes in 25 cities, covering 13 countries world-wide.
