Annual Swiss Students Sports Awards 2024 held in Lucerne
The Swiss University Sports held its annual awards ceremony evening in Lucerne on 25 October, 2024.
The annual Swiss Students Sports Awards from Swiss University Sports took place at the Lucerne Exhibition Center. It was an event full of music, honours and inspiring speeches.
Numerous guests, including prominent figures from sport and education, gathered to honour the outstanding achievements in university and elite sport.
A special spotlight of the event was the presentation of the Lifetime Award to the President of the International University Sports Federation FISU, Mr Leonz Eder, for his outstanding services to university sport, both nationally and internationally.
The event was hosted by St.Gallen TV presenter Beat Antenen. The show act included the top sports dance duo Maja Kucharcyk and Davide Corrody – both students at the University of St.Gallen.
A particular and interesting highlight was the double interview with Mr Lorenz Ursprung, Co-President of Swiss University Sports, and Mr Matthias Remund, Head of FOSPO (Swiss Federal Office for Sport) and Future FISU Secretary General from 1 December 2024. In their interview they provided exciting insights into the future direction of Swiss University Sports and the importance of international university sports.
In the first part of the event, FISU Education Committee member and Co-President of Swiss University Sports, Mr Daniel Studer, honoured Managing Director Mr Simone Righenzi on the occasion of his departing and welcomed the new Managing Director Mr Raeto Raffainer.
Two student-athletes, both competing in ski orienteering, Eliane Deininger from Eastern Switzerland and Nicola Muller from Bern, were presented with the Swiss Students Sports Awards 2024.
