AIPS Congress 2016 featured also university sport

The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) held its annual Congress in Doha, Qatar between February 7 and 11, 2016. Among the invited organisations was also the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

FISU President Mr Oleg Matytsin presented the vision and values of FISU and gave an update of FISU future activities to the representatives of the International Sports Press. He was accompanied by FISU First Assessor and Chair of the FISU Media and Communication Committee Mrs Verena Burk.

Speakers list at the congress included representatives of international sports organisations, including UEFA, FIFA, IAAF, FIG, Special Olympics, and the International Centre for Sport Security. High authorities from Qatar's government attended the Congress, e.g. the Qatar Prime Minister His Highness Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani was present during the officially opening the 79th AIPS Congress on 8 February.

FISU and AIPS Presidents

On continental level, European University Sports Association (EUSA) is striving for closer cooperation with AIPS Europe, aiming to further promote University sport in Europe.
