ABC of youth work conference in Ljubljana

Social Academy together with Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport organized in Ljubljana on March 1 a conference focusing on quality in youth work, entitled "Events or Groups?" The event was part of an ABC of Youth Work project, and was attended by representatives of youth organisations, including the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and its Institute.

The conference was opened by Mr Rok Primozic, Director of Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, and by Mr Matej Cepin, leader of the ABC of Youth Work project. The main goal of the conference was to present results of research conducted by participating countries and to gather youth workers and debate on the subject of quality in youth work.

Workshops

The project itself was developed by the strategic partnership „ABC of Youth Work”, funded by Erasmus+ project of the European Union. The aim of the still on-going collaboration is to raise the quality of youth work in Europe and a system that may be used by various organizations to strengthen the bond of the organization with young people and therefor raise the quality of their work has been developed within the project.

EUSA was also represented at the event by its EVS volunteer Ms Marianna Pikul

Over 70 people attended the seminar, which made it a great opportunity for youth workers to exchange ideas on all relevant matters. European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the EUSA Institute were represented by Ms Marianna Pikul, EUSA EVS Intern. Besides the presentation of the results, crucial part was working in groups to develop better understanding of different parts of the system, elements such as strengthening belonging or supporting young people’s growth.

Presentation of youth policies by Movit

Last part of conference was dedicated to the general themes of youth work in organizations. Introduction to the topic was presented by Mr Janez Skulj, Management Board Chairman at MOVIT – National Agency of the Erasmus+, responsible for EU youth programs in Slovenia.
