A month to go until EUSA Games

A month to go until EUSA Games
There is a month to go to the 1st European Universities Games, which will be held in Cordoba, Spain between July 13 and 23.

European Universities Games is the largest European multisport student event, featuring 10 sports, with 6 big team sports - basketball, handball, football, futsal, rugby 7s and volleyball; and 4 "smaller" sports - badminton, beach-volleyball, table tennis and tennis. Each of the sports has men's and women's events (and in badminton combined), and we take pride in the gender equality which has been achieved through registration of both male and female European student athletes.

In this event, licensed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), over 2500 participants from all over Europe will represent their home universities, and they will compete to get the titles of European University Champions in their sports.

Apart from the competitions, the participants will be able to get to know their peers in all parts of Europe and enjoy the social programme prepared for them by the Local organising committee.

Past university sports events

Although Cordoba is known for organising sports event, including university ones - like the 7th World University Rugby 7s Championship in 2008, 4th European Universities Karate Championship in 2009, 4th European Universities Rugby 7s Championship in 2010 and the 11th European Universities Basketball Championship last year, having such a huge event in the city is a huge task.

After signing the agreement with one of the sponsors

Despite the far-from-ideal economic situation, the Organising Committee and EUSA are happy to have full support from the national university sports body, the University of Cordoba, local and regional authorities, sports organisations and also sponsors and other partners. Together with them and the local and international volunteers, we will try to make this inaugural edition of the event, also called EUSA Games, enjoyable for the participants and make it interesting for local population as well.

So see you in Cordoba soon!
