90th Anniversary of SAUS

The Slovak University Sports Association celebrated its 90th Anniversary of establishing university sports in Slovakia. The event took place on October 23rd in Bratislava.

 

Mr. Anton Znasik, the President of SAUS, welcomed all representatives at this historical moment and referred in his speech to the important historical facts which had and still have a direct impact on the development of Slovak University Sports.

 

Present on the ceremony were the Deputy Prime-Minister and Minister of Education, Mr.Jan Mikolaj; the President of the Slovak Olympic Committee, Mr. Frantisek Chmelar; the Rectors of the Slovak Universities; representatives of Slovak Faculties and other officials together with the stars of university sports of the past.
 

 

EUSA was represented by Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General who in his speech congratulated the Slovak University Sports Association on its remarkable anniversary and presented the EUSA Plaquette to the SAUS President.


The celebration was attended by representatives of other EUSA Member Associations as well, such as Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary, along with the FISU representative Milan Augustin, Director for the Winter Universiades.

After the speeches a number of athletes and officials were awarded with medals by SAUS.

 

At the end all participants were invited to a lunch at the Faculty of Sport and Education of the University of Bratislava.
