3x3 FISU World University League 2017 Finals

The Finals of the 3rd edition of the 3x3 FISU World University League were held in Xiamen, China, between September 14 and 17, 2017.

After four days of 3x3 basketball on the Huaqiao University campus, Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute (MGL) in male and Chinese Culture University (TPE) in female category claimed the titles of the champion.

Female matches

The women's team of Chinese Culture University celebrated their victory after the Taipei Summer Universiade last month. The team defeated the University of Regina (CAN) 21:12 in the final. Completing the women’s podium was Qinghai Normal University (CHN). European universities teams missed the podium, best one being University of Physical Education (HUN) being placed on 4th place, and the winners of the European Universities 3x3 Basketball Championship 2017, the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (UKR) placed 5th.

Female Champions

This year's 3x3 European Champion - the winner of the European Universiteis 3x3 Basketball Championship, the University of Kragujevac (SRB) fought hard but had to congratulate in the end the team of Mon-Altius Physical Education Institute (MGL), the latter winning 21:17. The podium was completed by the McGill University (CAN) who were the defending men's champions. Second highest-ranked European University was the Saint-Petersburg State University of Technology and Design (RUS) on 9th place.

Men's finals

During the four days, the crowd packed the 3x3 court on the Huaqiao University campus, making for an unforgettable atmosphere. Sixteen men’s and sixteen women’s university teams qualified for the finals in Xiamen through a series of national and continental tournaments. The two victors also received tickets for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Mexico City Masters.

Male Champions

The event was organised by the International University Sport Federation (FISU) and the local hosts, in partnership with FIBA. Along with a host of broadcasters, Eurosport covered the event in Xiamen. A 90-minute highlights will be shown on Eurosport 2 on Tuesday 19th September at 23:00 CET and again on Wednesday 20th September at 11:00.
