3 weeks until the European Universities Games 2022 in Lodz
Three weeks ago, through the short preview event in Manufaktura Lodz, local participants got a small glimpse of what can be expected at the European Universities Games between July 17-30 in the third biggest city in Poland. In three weeks from now, the main part of the long-awaited event is coming up!
This year’s edition of the European Universities Games has its start planed with a grand opening ceremony on the evening of July 17. Among the invited special guests are, the President of the Republic of Poland, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, President of Łódź, Rector of the Lodz University of Technology, President of Polish Academic Sports Association, President of EUSA and event ambassadors such as Marcin Gortat, Euzebiusz Smolarek, Adam Kszczot and Kajetan Duszyński.
The ceremony will take place in the largest sports and entertainment hall in Łódź, Atlas Arena. It will start on Sunday 17 July at 21:00. The event is free of charge, and all participants who will arrive to the event in time for the Opening ceremony, will be able to witness it. The event is also available for spectators, also free of charge, with registration and tickets.
The expected numbers of this great sport event organized through the hard work of the Organising committee and their partners, European University Sports Association (EUSA) and its Institute is over 4500 participants, representing over 400 European universities from 38 countries, that will come to Lodz, compete and help create another great EUG story.
European Universities Games will offer, besides sport and grand dose of competitive spirit, an educational, cultural and social program and various workshops. The Rectors’ Conference that was planned to be held from 15-17 of July, has been cancelled, but the conferences on the topics of Volunteering and Dual Career will be held on July 18 and 19. Workshops on the topic of volunteerism, inclusion, healthy lifestyle, sustainability, social skills and leadership will be open for attendance. These workshops are going to be available for different types of participants, including athletes, officials, volunteers, National University Sport Association (NUSA) members, university representatives and other interested members of the public.
All participating teams are also reminded to check their registration status, and submit their individual entry forms and travel plans latest by June 28, if this has not yet been done.
The European Universities Games in Lodz are being organised under the licence of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) by the Lodz University of Technology, University Sports Association of Poland (AZS) and City of Lodz, in cooperation with the EUSA Institute and several partners, including the Ministry of Education and Science, national and local tourism organisations, Polish Olympic Committee, national and local sports organisation, media outlets and is also supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
