2014 World University Championships concluded

With the conclusion of the 2nd World University Speed Skating Championship which took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 18 to 21 December, the 2014 season of the World University Championships concluded. In 2014, FISU and the local organisers staged World Universities Championships in 28 sports, held in 22 countries across four continents.

World University Championships (WUC) are part of the sporting events of FISU, the International University Sports Federation. Alternating with the Summer and Winter Universiades, they are organised every even-numbered year, the first one being organised in 1963.

WUC American Football was organised for the first time

In 2015 it will be the year of Universiades once again. The 27th Winter Universiade will be held in two parts, the first one hosted by Strbske Pleso and Osrblie in Slovakia between 24 January - 1 February 2015 and the main part in Granada, Spain between February 4- 14, 2015. The 28th Summer Universiade will be held between July 3-14 in Gwangju, Korea.
