2013-14 National Universiade in Latvia
Latvian Universities Sports Federation (LUSF/LASS) each year organizes Latvian Universiade, where all students of universities in Latvia are invited to participate and in the end of the season to get the challenge cup for the overall victory.
In the 2013/2014 academic year, the XXIV Latvian Universiade program consisted of 25 sports: Chess, Powerlifting, Judo, Boxing, Rugby 7, Freestyle Wrestling, Table Tennis, Floorball, Swimming, Weightlifting, Beach Volleyball, Skiing, Kettlebell Lifting, Badminton, Handball, Kickboxing, Volleyball, Soccer 8:8, 3x3 Basketball, Basketball, Frisbee, Futsal, Street Gymnastics, Athletics and Orienteering.
The XXIV Latvian Universiade was held over 47 days, involving 2200 participants, of whom 200 were judges and organizers, and almost 2,000 students from 27 different Latvian universities.
Concluding the Latvian Universiade season a celebration event was organised. In the introduction of the celebration the first LUSF informative photo exhibition "Students in Sports" was unveiled.
The exhibition summarizes the most outstanding moments of this year Latvian Universiade, SELL games in Riga and Tartu, as well as the World Summer and Winter Universiades 2013. The photo exhibition will travel throughout Latvia.
LUSF is already actively preparing for the new season; between October 23 and 26 they will organise an open event "Students in Sports". The competition will be held in various cities in Latvia, featuring the following sports - Handball, Beach Volleyball, Rugby 7s, Badminton, Chess and Swimming.
