1st Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship

The first edition of the Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championship was held at the Northeastern University in Shenyang, China between September 14 and 18, 2015. 8 Women's teams and 9 Men's teams from 7 different countries and regions - Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand and host China took part in this event.

It was the first trial for the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) to hold the 3x3 basketball championship on a continental level and at the same time university teams took part and not the national teams.

Opening ceremony and the participating teams

The Opening Ceremony was held on September 14 in the presence of AUSF Senior Vice-President Omar Al-Hai, AUSF Vice Secretary General and FUSC Vice President Yanqing Xue, AUSF Assessor Dorjsuren Jargalsakhan, University Vice President of Jianhua Wang, Technical Delegate Wai Sun Yoon and other officials.

In his welcome speech, Mr Wang extended his warmest welcome to all the participants coming from afar. He introduced the university sports history and ensured their full support to the event. On behalf of AUSF Mr Omar Al-Hai thanked FUSC and the City of Shenyang, Liaoning Province and the NEU University for their hard work and support. Then Mr Xue, AUSF Vice Secretary General and FUSC Vice President announced the opening of the championship.

Male competition

After two days of intense pool competition, the teams entered the semi-finals and finals. The participants were able to enjoy not only the interesting matches but also the accompanying programme, including a cultural tour to Zhang's Residence Museum and Shenyang Imperial Palace. Also individual contest, namely a men’s slam dunk and a women’s shoot out contest was carried out on the final day. The closing ceremony was held after the finals, where the female team of the Tianjin University of Economics and Finance (CHN) and the male team of the host of Northeastern University (CHN) took home gold.
