Freewill Student Sport Society of Azerbaijan Republic "Genjlik" organised the XIII Republican Universiade in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

The national universiade was held throughout April featuring 11 sports.

The main protocolary event was the official opening ceremony on April 21, held in Baku Sport Palace.



The opening was attended by 24 university teams, as well as representatives and high officials of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Ministry of Education, National Olympic Committee, as well as senior officials of trade unions and education workers.



The 2017 national universiade featured competitions in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Checkers, Chess, Free-Style Wrestling, Greco Roman Wrestling, Judo, Table Tennis, Velo Sports and Volleyball, including nearly 1300 students.
