010 Moves Rotterdam

010 Moves Rotterdam
On Sunday June 1, Rotterdam was focused on different sportive activities on Schouwburgplein, a square in the city centre. Several different activities were organised for anyone interested within the 010 Moves Rotterdam event (010 being the area code for Rotterdam). The reason for this event was promotion of sport events, including the European Universities Games 2014 that are going to take place this summer in Rotterdam, the sport city of the Netherlands.

Basketball for people with disabilities

Also the EUGames 2014 was part of the team that helped with organising this event. People from Rotterdam and other visitors could participate in different sports clinics and watch spectacular demonstrations and besides that they had a chance of winning tickets for sporting events such as the World Cup Hockey and World Cup BMX, all held in and around Rotterdam.

Roffa and Francisco Elson

Of course also Roffa, the mascot of the EUGames 2014, was presented. This event was another possibility to take pictures with Roffa and to enjoy the nice and sunny Sunday. Fransisco Elson, a former professional basketball player and winner of the NBA in 2007, also met Roffa during 010 Moves.

Promoting the European Universities Games 2014

‘It was good to show ourselves again as the EUGames 2014 team. This is a typical event for a city as Rotterdam with her big sport ambiance. We hope we created more awareness of our event this summer and that a lot of people will come to visit the EUGames 2014’ says Gaby Dijkstra, spokesman of the EUGames 2014.

TV interview with EUG tournament director Mr Henk Smit

Also tournament director Henk Smit was happy with the interest in 010 Moves. ‘It was a good opportunity for us to be part of the sportive vibe in Rotterdam and to make sure people know about the EUGames 2014. We are looking for volunteers and events like 010 Moves can help to approach people and make them enthusiastic.’
